The 21st Annual Gulf of Mexico Deepwater Technical Symposium scheduled for August 21-23, 2017 is a joint effort between the American Association of Drilling Engineers New Orleans Chapter (AADE), Society of Petroleum Engineers Delta Section (SPE), and New Orleans Geological Society (NOGS).
Last year’s Symposium attracted over 350 industry professionals from across the spectrum of technical disciplines that enable deepwater oil and gas development including employees of oil & gas companies, service providers, government agencies, and academia as well as students from universities across the gulf coast area. The overall goal of the Symposium is to share knowledge, best practices, new technologies, and improvements to existing technologies with a focus on case studies. In addition to technical sessions throughout the Symposium, we will host exciting keynote speakers for the Tuesday and Wednesday luncheon sessions.
Due to the support of generous sponsors and engaged exhibitors, proceeds from the Symposium are used to support scholarships and other educational efforts promoted by the sponsoring societies. Not only do these projects maintain an awareness of the beneficial aspects of the oil and gas business for the surrounding communities, they also help to develop the necessary talent we seek in the young professionals entering our workforce.
Throughout the Tuesday and Wednesday itineraries, an exhibition hall will be available for participants to get first-hand exposure to industry technologies and services. The exhibition hall will also be the venue for the Oilfield Trivia Challenge scheduled for Wednesday, August 22 at 5:00pm-6:30pm hosted by the SPE Young Professionals.
